To get severe weather alerts on iPhone with Meteopolis: open Settings → Weather alerts and allow notifications, then in iOS Settings → Notifications → Meteopolis turn on Time Sensitive Notifications. You'll get official alerts for your current location and every saved city, and severe ones stay on your Lock Screen as a Live Activity.
Step 1: switch alerts on in the app
- Open Meteopolis and go to Settings.
- Switch on Weather alerts, and tap Allow when iOS asks about notifications.
- Add the cities you care about in Cities, such as your parents' town or where you're travelling. Alerts cover every saved city as well as your current location.
Step 2: make sure iOS lets them through
- Settings → Notifications → Meteopolis: Allow Notifications on, Time Sensitive Notifications on, and Lock Screen and Banners on.
- Focus modes: time-sensitive alerts can come through a Focus if that Focus allows time-sensitive notifications.
- Settings → Meteopolis → Live Activities on, so severe warnings stay visible.
- Location: "While Using the App" is enough for alerts at your current location.
How alerts are tiered
| Alert severity | What you get |
|---|---|
| Extreme / Severe | Time-sensitive notification + Live Activity (Lock Screen and Dynamic Island) |
| Moderate | Regular notification |
| Minor | Shown in the app only |
Alerts come from official national weather services, delivered through Apple WeatherKit, and each one is sent to you only once.
Important: keep your phone's built-in Emergency Alerts on as well (Settings → Notifications → Government Alerts). Meteopolis adds to them; it doesn't replace them.
